The rituals of visionary leaders: extraordinary strategies to lead the field

The essence of integrity and leadership is not about doing what's easy; it's about doing what's right. Leadership begins with personal responsibility.
-Robin Sharma

Everyone can be a leader, according to Robin Sharma, the keynote speaker at the PMCQ Breakfast meeting last April 20th. How can we become great leaders in our own lives?

Sharma believes that the gift of leadership is the chance to make a difference, to bless lives and develop people, and to see obstacles as opportunities for change. Leadership is also about connecting with people at an emotional level, to build trust. Because, we do business with people that we trust, and with whom we have an emotional connection.

To become a great leader in our own lives and make a difference in the lives of others, take the time to work on yourself-develop a philosophy to guide your life, keep a journal, exercise, meditate, read every chance you get and consider the following:

  • Live your values-Nothing in your life will change until YOU change. Keep your word and speak your truth.

  • Don't follow the crowd-Be passionate in everything you do, add value and look for new ways of doing things by seeking inspiration from all sources.

  • Be devoted to excellence-Play your biggest game all the time because all success in leadership begins from within.

  • Use love as a business tool-Treat people well, send out words of appreciation, respect your moral obligation to your customer and listen.

  • Take risks-The greatest risk in life is not taking any, so don't be afraid to make mistakes; every failure is simply an opportunity to begin.

Sharma believes we are all destined for greatness in our own way. So play your biggest game, commit yourself to excellence, keep dreaming, innovate, add more value, make a difference, and be kind; if we don't we have lost the greatest opportunity to become a leader.
